SKS Continues to Shine Under Matt Mills on the West Coast

The crowd was behind them and Some Kinda Shine had his best run yet under Matt Mills on another big stage as the only Appaloosa entry at the High Roller Derby in Las Vegas.  With judges marking “Frankie” 75, 74, and 73, the “Appaloosa Discount” was obviously in effect.  With six months until Some Kinda Shine debuts as the FIRST Appaloosa to compete at the NRBC, focus will now turn to his rest and training and the new Frankie babies, Some Kinda Swagger and Some Kinda Bling.

Some Kinda Shine and Matt Mills had a spectacular debut at the 2010 Reining By the Bay Derby!  A strong contingent of “Appy Nation” cheered Matt and “Frankie” to a top 10 finish in the Open.  The tough field included million dollar riders Andrea Fappani and Randy Paul, Casey Deary and Tanya Jenkins.  The field included past NRHA Derby winners and NRBC champs, yet once again, Some Kinda Shine held his own and proved he is still the “ONLY” Appaloosa capable of competing at the major events.  See the run on our In-Action page.  Next up for Some Kinda Shine and Matt Mills, the High Roller Derby.

Some Kinda Shine has a new pilot; NRHA Top 20 Rider Matt Mills will now lead Some Kinda Shine’s Career.  Look for the debut of this duo at the Reining By the Bay Derby later this month in California.  A special thank you to Matt Mills for accepting Frankie into his Derby string for 2010!
